Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was in an abusive relationship. Physically and mentally. When I called the police, back then, I was told I couldn't press charges unless there was physical proof of injury at the time I submitted my complaint. Restraining orders were hard to come by and difficult to obtain. Thankfully for many, in today's world, things are different. I'm happy to report that, for a very long time now, I've been with someone I love and respect highly, and who loves and respects me back - his actions show it too. That's key for anyone to remember. In light of all this - it's my pleasure to share with you, the AFTER THE SCARS anthology of hope from Little Bird Publishing today. It was put together by the lovely and talented Hazel Robinson, fellow Little Bird author. The proceeds will be going to a charity called REFUGE, where they support women and children in abusive relationships. THE BLURB: A moving, inspiring and hopeful collection of women's voices. “We will rise from the ruins of our broken dreams and stand tall.” (Angela A. Fardellone) An anthology of fiction about moving on and standing tall after experiences of emotional and physical abuse. Stories about women searching for freedom, recovery and love. In this collection of stories, Hazel Robinson, author of 'Something Missing' has brought together some of the best emerging voices in the Romance genre to create a collection of stories that are both emotional and inspiring. A collection of stories written by women for women in order to explore the ideas of self-discovery, rebirth and finding love and hope after periods of darkness. Interwoven into these stories are poems that offer beauty and reconciliation. THE BUY LINKS: AMAZON US: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B011LW085W/ AMAZON UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011LW085W/ Many women, children, or even men who find themselves in a bad circumstance blame themselves for a long time. Sometimes, it's too late to help them by the time anyone understands exactly what's happening. I was lucky to have a support system of people who helped me out when I left my ex. I've also shared my experience with my girls so they know how to recognize an abuser and know not to put up with that type of behavior as they get older. God forbid. If you're in an abusive situation, get help. It's there. Refuge is a London based charity, but you're in the U.S. contact The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and they'll help you. * * * * * Thanks for stopping by today - check out the anthology, support a worthy cause. You can't go wrong.
